Auston Taylour Matthews (born September 17, 1997) is an American ice hockey center and alternate captain for the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL).
Matthews was born in San Ramon, California, and relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, with his family when he was a baby.
After growing up playing baseball and hockey, he became particularly interested in hockey after watching the Arizona Coyotes play.
