The Assemblyman for Abeposo Electoral Area in Asante Akyem Municipality, Emmanuel Opoku, has found himself in hot waters after allegedly stabbing a young man named Idrisu Ibrahim. The incident reportedly occurred following an altercation where Ibrahim’s brother was beaten by a group of individuals.
According to Ibrahim, one of the assailants, Niri, who happens to be his friend and a relative of the Assemblyman, instigated the attack. In an attempt to defend himself, Ibrahim grabbed a cutlass that had been wielded by a man named Kwesi Mintah and retaliated.
Unfortunately, the situation escalated as more people joined the attack, leading to Ibrahim being mercilessly beaten by several residents. To make matters worse, Ibrahim claims that the Assemblyman himself stabbed him in the rib with a cutlass during the chaos.
Despite the violent encounter, Ibrahim managed to seek safety in a nearby store before being rushed to a health center for treatment. The Konongo Divisional Police have reportedly apprehended the Assemblyman in connection with the incident.
This disturbing altercation serves as a reminder of the need for peaceful conflict resolution and adherence to the rule of law within communities. The authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, and justice must prevail for the victim, Ibrahim.
