National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has issued a strong caution to senior security officers who may yield to the demands of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and issue directives that could endanger the lives of citizens during the upcoming December 7 elections.
Asiedu Nketia asserted that the next NDC government will not overlook individuals who collude with the NPP to manipulate the will of the voters, who he believes have made up their minds to vote them out.
His comments come in the wake of the deaths of eight individuals who were protesting the Electoral Commission’s misconduct during the 2020 election.
Speaking during his campaign tour in the Ayensuano constituency, Asiedu Nketia warned, “On the day of accountability, the government that instigated the use of firearms against the people would have exited power, leaving you to face the repercussions. Police and military commanders who authorize the use of force against civilians will not escape justice, as crimes have no expiry date.”
He further threatened that the next NDC administration has concrete evidence and records of the security personnel involved in the 2020 killings and vowed to take appropriate action against them.
“Some of them have profited from their actions and have been promoted as ministers, still harboring intentions to repeat their actions from the previous elections. They should be informed that they are mistaken; every action they take should be mindful that the first fool is not a fool,” Asiedu Nketia emphasized.
