Ashaiman Astroturf to be named after late military officer Sherrif Imoro

The late military officer Sherrif Imoro, who was gruesomely murdered by some unidentified persons on March 4, 2023, will have the Ashaiman Astroturf project named after him, according to the Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong.

According to our sensational correspondents, Honorable Agyapong, MP for Assin Central Constituency, Central Region made this revelation during a visit to Imoro’s family on Friday, ( March 17, 2023).

Sadly, Imoro’s murder led to a military swoop in Ashaiman on March 7, with dozens of military officers storming the Ashaiman in response to the incident. Videos of the invasion shared on social media showed various forms of assault being meted out on residents, leading to widespread condemnation.

The Ghana Armed Forces, in a statement released on March 8, admitted to authorizing the swoop which led to the arrest of 184 persons, as well as the seizure of suspected illegal drugs.

The statement also acknowledged that excesses may have resulted in the swoop but failed to apologize for or commit to conducting a probe on the matter.
