Asante Kotoko players are not serious – Osei Kwame Junior

Former Asante Kotoko defender Osei Kwame Junior has expressed his disappointment in the lack of seriousness displayed by the current crop of players at the club, in comparison to previous years.

The Ghanaian giants have been struggling this season, managing to secure only one victory in 2024. With six defeats in their last seven games in the Ghanaian top-flight, Asante Kotoko has only earned a single point during this period. As a result, they find themselves in 11th position on the league table with 33 points.

In an interview with Kessben FM, Osei Kwame urged the players to reflect on their achievements and contributions to the club. He stressed the importance of leaving a legacy and being remembered as legends of the team. The former defender emphasized that playing for Asante Kotoko is a privilege and the players should treat it with the utmost seriousness and respect.

Osei Kwame also pointed out that blaming the coach for the team’s struggles is unfair, as it is ultimately the players’ responsibility to perform on the field. He called on the players to take ownership of their performances and work together to improve the team’s results.

Asante Kotoko will face league leaders Samartex on Sunday, followed by a match against reigning champions Medeama SC.
