The crisis within Asante Kotoko has taken a new turn as the club’s Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has made a bold declaration to address the ongoing issues.
During a crucial meeting held at his Manhyia residence, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his readiness to pay his players higher salaries than any other club in the Ghana Premier League.
The meeting, which took place on Thursday, April 18, was a response to the escalating tensions within the club. Supporters had disrupted a training session, demanding the resignation of coach Ogum due to the team’s poor performance in the league.
Key stakeholders, including players, coaching staff, and the Interim Management Committee (IMC), were all present at the meeting. Asante Kotoko’s recent form in the league has been disappointing, with the team losing four and drawing one of their last five games.
Despite these challenges, Otumfuo Osei Tutu remains determined to improve the club’s fortunes. He stated, “I am ready to pay more salaries to my players than any Ghana Premier League club.” This move is aimed at boosting the players’ morale and potentially enhancing their performance on the field.
