Emmanuel Gyamfi, a former Asante Kotoko captain, has made a plea to the fans of the club to be patient with current coach Prosper Narteh Ogum as the team faces a rough patch.

Despite the team only managing one victory in the league so far this year, Gyamfi believes in Ogum’s coaching abilities to turn things around.

The team has been struggling with form, suffering six defeats in their last seven league fixtures, leading to tension between management and supporters. In fact, fans disrupted a training session demanding Ogum’s dismissal earlier this week. However, Gyamfi, who won the Premier League under Ogum during his time at the club, has faith in the coach.

Gyamfi shared his thoughts with Ghanasportspage.com saying, “Whoever says the coach isn’t good is a liar. I’ve met him before at the local Black Stars camp, I worked with him at Kotoko for a short period before my departure and I know how he likes his team to play. Even after all, he won the league title in his first season with Asante Kotoko.”

He also addressed the possibility of returning to Asante Kotoko but remained tight-lipped about his contractual situation with Aduana Stars, where he currently plays. “I can’t expose my contract with Aduana on air but to tell everyone that I am a footballer and whoever comes for me with a good offer and terms, likely, I will join the team,” Gyamfi added.

In conclusion, Gyamfi urged Kotoko supporters for understanding and to stand by the coach during this challenging period, expressing confidence that brighter days are ahead for the club. Asante Kotoko is scheduled to play league leaders FC Samartex in the Matchday 27 games at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
