Asante Kotoko captain Danlad Ibrahim has taken the time to issue a heartfelt apology to the team’s disappointed fans following their lackluster performance in the Ghana Premier League this season.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled in the domestic league, currently sitting in 11th place with 33 points.

In a recent interview with the club’s media, Ibrahim acknowledged the team’s poor form, which has seen them suffer six defeats in their last seven games and secure just one point during that period. This sharp decline in performance has left the Kumasi-based giants far from their initial status as title contenders, now fighting for survival.

“We would first like to apologise to our supporters because we know they don’t deserve this kind of result and the things that are happening in the team,” Ibrahim expressed, demonstrating his understanding of the fans’ disappointment. “However, we want to assure them that we will do whatever it takes to turn it around.”

The captain also revealed the toll that the team’s struggles have taken on the players, saying, “It’s very, very bad because a lot of us can’t even sleep. Taking into context what we want to do for Asante Kotoko and our careers, this result doesn’t speak well of us the playing body. But we know it’s part of the job, and the only thing we can do now is to work hard and stay focused. Other than that, it could be worse.”

Asante Kotoko, currently positioned eleventh on the league standings, will face league leaders Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. Despite their recent difficulties, Ibrahim remains optimistic about the team’s ability to turn things around and deliver better results for their loyal supporters.
