Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most prominent football clubs, has said a poignant goodbye to Danlad Ibrahim as he departs the team after an impressive eight years.
The former Ghana youth international is just one of eleven players who have been released by the club as they look to revamp their squad for the upcoming 2024/25 season following a disappointing run in the Ghana Premier League.
In a touching message shared on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Asante Kotoko expressed their gratitude to Danlad, stating, “This is not a goodbye, Asante Kotoko will forever remain your home. Thank you for these eight years of growth and for the success we achieved together. All the best for the future LAGATA as you leave us at the end of your contract.”
Danlad initially joined Asante Kotoko during the 2016-17 season and has since made significant contributions to the team. His impressive skills have seen him represent Ghana across various youth levels, including the U-17, U-20, and U-23 teams, as well as the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Throughout his time with Asante Kotoko, Danlad has achieved notable accolades, including winning the Ghana Premier League in the 2021-22 season, the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, and the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020.
In addition to team achievements, Danlad has also been recognized individually for his exceptional talent, receiving the Golden Glove at both the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020 and the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021. He was also named the Goalkeeper of the Year at the prestigious Ghana Football Awards in 2021.
During the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Danlad showcased his skills in thirteen appearances for Asante Kotoko, leaving a lasting impression on both fans and teammates.
