Renowned former Bechem United and Great Olympics coach, Bismark Kobi Mensah, has recently been thrown into the spotlight as a possible candidate for the vacant coaching role at Asante Kotoko.

The Porcupine Warriors have been facing a rough patch in the top-flight league, currently sitting at a disappointing 11th place in the standings with only 33 points.

The pressure on the team has been mounting, especially in the latter half of the season, as they have only managed to secure one league victory in 2024. To make matters worse, the team has suffered six defeats in their last seven games, only securing a single point during this period. This poor run of form has not been taken lightly by the fans, who recently took matters into their own hands by disrupting proceedings at the club’s training ground, demanding the dismissal of the current head coach, the former WAFA boss.

According to reports, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Kotoko are considering sacking the current coach if things do not turn around soon. In light of this, they have allegedly reached out to Bismark Kobi Mensah as a potential replacement for the struggling coach. Meanwhile, the Life Patron of the club, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for an emergency meeting to address the recent struggles of the team.

The crunch meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 19, 2024, where Otumfuo will meet with the playing body and the Interim Management Committee to discuss the current happenings within the team.
