Asante Akyem North Municipal Health Directorate has been commended by Roland Mai, Director of the Asante Akyem North Health Directorate, for achieving a zero maternal death rate in 2023.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Mai stated that despite prior difficulties in documenting maternal deaths, the management of the Municipality were able to successfully forbid any such incidents in 2023 by taking extra precautions.
He stated that the district had a high rate of maternal death, therefore the recent progress is noteworthy. He thanked all medical professionals, including the midwives, for their contributions.
He took advantage of the occasion to make a plea to all district stakeholders to support medical professionals in their efforts to enhance the municipality’s health.
In the meantime, Emma Serwaah Osei Job, the District Coordinating Maternal Health Officer, spoke with Adom News and advised all expectant mothers to schedule routine checkups.
