Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan has shown his support for the young talents included in the Black Stars squad under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo.
The team is gearing up to take on Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers on June 6th and June 10th.
After a mixed start in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, with one win and one loss in their first two matches, Ghana is eager to get back to their winning ways. Gyan, who holds the record for the most goals scored in Ghana’s history, is optimistic about the potential of the young players in the squad to make a mark in African football in the coming years.
In an interview with Peace FM, Gyan praised the young players for their performances at their respective clubs, with many of them competing in top leagues like the Premier League. He believes that with proper grooming over the next five years, these players have the capability to dominate football on the African continent.
The former captain also emphasized the importance of patience and support from Ghanaians as the team undergoes a rebuilding phase. Gyan urged fans to focus on the team’s performance and have faith in the process, rather than expecting immediate results.
“We are building a team and it takes time. Ghanaian fans need to be patient and allow the young players to grow and develop. The team has a lot of potential and with the right support, they can achieve great things,” Gyan stated.
With a fresh squad and a new coach at the helm, Gyan is confident that the Black Stars have a bright future ahead. He called on Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they strive to bring glory back to Ghanaian football.
