
Arthur Soper, the president of the Newcastle City and Suburban Cricket Association from 1981 to 2012, died on Tuesday at the age of 95.
Soper was a long-serving member of the Newcastle cricket team.
He was almost a lifelong supporter of the game, having joined the organisation in 1961.
Soper wrote handwritten cricket forecasts for the Newcastle Herald for years.
He also dedicated a significant amount of time to the Salvation Army.
Soper spent his final years in Waratah’s Moroba Nursing Home.
