Arsenal keeper Raya wins Premier League Golden Glove

Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, has emerged as the winner of the Premier League’s Golden Glove award after Luton scored against Everton’s Jordan Pickford in a recent match.

Raya, who is on loan from Brentford, has kept an impressive 14 clean sheets in 29 league matches this season, solidifying his position as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Before the match against Luton, Pickford was the only competitor who could have overtaken Raya in the Golden Glove standings. However, Pickford’s hopes were dashed when Luton’s Elijah Adebayo equalized, putting an end to his chances of winning the individual accolade outright.

Despite trailing Raya by two clean sheets with two fixtures remaining, Pickford can only hope to match the Spaniard’s record but not surpass it.

Raya’s loan move to Arsenal raised some eyebrows initially, especially with Aaron Ramsdale already occupying the goalkeeper position. Ramsdale had a successful season previously, keeping 14 clean sheets in all 38 matches.

However, Raya’s performance throughout the season has silenced any doubts about his abilities. Despite a rocky start, he has proven his worth, with standout moments like saving two penalties in Arsenal’s Champions League shootout victory against Porto.

Since breaking into the Arsenal side, Raya has been consistent, missing only two league matches when he was ineligible to face parent club Brentford. Ramsdale stepped in for those games, helping Arsenal secure wins.
