Residents of the Awoshie Ablekuma Fanmilk (Ten Plot) neighborhood in the Greater Accra Region are presently living in fear as armed robbers continue to terrorize them.
According to reliable sources, these suspected gang members attack residents and rob them of their money and belongings during odd hours.
The locals have reportedly lodged multiple complaints at the Awoshie Ablekuma Police Station, but no significant action has been taken.
Frustrated by the inaction of the authorities, the residents have petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Akufo Dampare, to intervene.
One of the victims, who chose to remain anonymous, shared his experience with Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, stating that he has been robbed multiple times, and his home security systems have not deterred the robbers.
He added that other residents have also fallen victim to the robbers as well, who use guns and other offensive weapons to carry out their attacks.
The situation has caused fear and panic among the residents, who are unable to sleep peacefully. The police only recently responded to their petition on May 1, 2023, despite the numerous complaints made before then.
The residents fear that local youths and other individuals might be conspiring with the robbers to cause mayhem in the neighborhood. It has been a horrible year for them as the robberies continue to occur frequently.
The residents are calling on the police to take immediate action to address the situation and make the neighborhood safe again.
