Workers and security officers at the railway bridge site of the Ofankor-Nsawam road project have been left terrorized by armed robbers.
The incident, which took place at night, saw both security personnel and contractors falling victim to the armed assailants.
Reports indicate that the affected contractors have lodged an official complaint with the Ofankor Police Station following the harrowing robbery incident. Senior Project Manager, Abdulai Mahama, provided details of the attack, revealing that the security officers were targeted by the robbers in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The robbery occurred when the security officers confronted a group of robbers attempting to loot a broken-down truck from Burkina Faso. According to Mahama, the armed robbers tied up the security men, attacked two other individuals in a car, and made away with their money and phones before fleeing the scene.
“This has been happening on the stretch anytime we have some of these faulty vehicles along the Ofankor stretch. But we have reported to the Ofankor police, and they have assured us that they are commencing an investigation,” Mahama stated.
