After 11 years together, singer Shakira has announced her divorce from player Gerard Pique.

Rumors of the couple’s breakup began to swirl earlier this week, with Spanish media reporting that the Barcelona guy had strayed.
Shakira had a past relationship with Antonio de la Rua, the son of former Argentine President Fernando de la Rua. De la Rua made news in April 2013 when he sued Shakira for $250 million, claiming that he helped conceive several of her famous songs as well as the “Shakira brand.”
Why did Shakira and Gerard Piqué split?
According to Spanish media, the former Manchester United player has been ‘living alone in his own flat for weeks’ after Shakira discovered his alleged affair.
Shakira, 45, acknowledged their split in a statement issued through her publicist, however, she made no mention of Pique’s suspected infidelity.
“We hate to confirm that we are parting ways,” it said.
“We beg that you respect our children’s privacy for the sake of their well-being, which is our first priority.”
“I appreciate your patience.”
