“Are guinea fowls more valuable than Free SHS?”- Afia Schwarzenegger to Ghanaians

Ghanaian socialite Afia Schwarzenegger has chastised those who are strongly opposing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School (SHS) proposal.

She argues that the strategy is ineffective since the current president launched the effort, refuting accusations that some Free SHS pupils study under trees.

She said that Ghanaians ought to value the education policy since it was nonexistent while former President John Dramani Mahama was in government. He went on to say that purchasing Guinea fowls took precedence over other worthwhile projects.

Speaking during a live TikTok session that GhanaWeb was watching, Afia said that Ghanaians should be appreciative to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration .

Ghanaians need to be grateful for the current state of affairs in their nation as things would have been worse if the other political party—the NDC—had been in power. This nation will be ruled by Dr. Bawumia, who will lead us forward. Some pupils at Free SHS study under trees, but the previous political party never offered us this luxury. This is why many are criticizing Free SHS.

“NDC has nothing to say; their eight years in power showed us what they were capable of.” Was the Free SHS already in the classroom when they were in office, and Akufo-Addo only moved it outside? Which is more essential, guinea fowls or education [Free SHS]? She asked a question.

Afia made her statement in response to criticism directed at President Akufo-Addo by certain persons, including members of the NDC, for the Free SHS policy’s poor implementation, citing obstacles including the lack of infrastructure.

The administration has not responded to pleas from certain legislators and educational professionals for a reassessment of the program.
