On June 9, 1961, American playwright, screenwriter, and director Aaron Benjamin Sorkin was born. He was up in New York City, and he has always loved to write. For theatre, television, and film, Sorkin is renowned for penning fast-paced dialogue and protracted monologues. He also commonly uses the “walk and talk” method of storytelling.
Sorkin has received numerous honours, including three Golden Globes, five Primetime Emmys, a BAFTA, and an Academy Award. In February 2016, it was revealed that Sorkin and Bartlett Sher were working together to stage-adapt Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
Among his works are the stage plays A Few Good Men (1989), The Farnsworth Invention (2007), and To Kill a Mockingbird (2018), as well as the television shows Sports Night (1998-2000), The West Wing (1999-2006), Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006-07), and The Newsroom (2006-07).
He also authored the screenplays for the films A Few Good Men (1992), The American President (1995), and others. Among the biopics, he wrote the screenplays for are Charlie Wilson’s War (2007), Moneyball (2011), and Steve Jobs (2015). He won the Oscar Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on the 2010 movie The Social Network.
