According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was detained outside his house on Sunday owing to a warrant issued for failing to pay child support.
The court-issued warrant for unpaid child support led to a writ of physical attachment, which empowered law enforcement to detain Brown for civil contempt. Brown posted a $15,000 bail and was granted freedom.
Wiltrice Jackson, Brown’s ex-partner, asserts that he owes close to $31,000 in child support. She voiced her wish for his arrest since she thinks he is operating illegally.
After brief stops with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Antonio Brown spent the most of his time in the NFL playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2018.
His career, however, was marred by off-field issues, including an eight-game ban in 2020 and the settlement of a sexual assault case in 2021.
He was dismissed by the Buccaneers in January 2022 following a dramatic game-time departure.
