The story of the drama between Nana Kwaku Duah, the Kokosohene, and Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been clarified by the top priest of the Antoa Nyamaa shrine.
Last week, there were rumors circulating that the shrine said that because of contradicting accounts, it was unable to undo a curse Chairman Wontumi had placed on the Kokosohene.
However, the top priest, Nana Asiamah, clarified that the shrine did not make the decision when speaking only to Nhyira FM.
Baffour Kantankrakye, the linguist for the Asantehene, indicated that the meeting needed to be rescheduled since there was disagreement among the participants over the precise events that took place.
He said, “We at Antoa did not say the curse should not be overturned, and neither did Wontumi or Kokosohene; rather, it was Kantankrakye’s desire because there was no compromise from both sides.
Chairman Wontumi acknowledged making some remarks, but he never disparaged Manhyia Palace or the chiefs, according to Nana Asiamah.
But according to the Kokosohene’s story, which the shrine is unaware of, Wontumi insulted the Asantehene with the words he used during their conversation.
Nana Asiamah has advised the two sides to proceed with prudence in their positions on the subject.
“We are fully prepared to break the curse, but we have no idea what the future holds. should they fail to return. What I do know is that you cannot cast a curse on the Antoa deity and escape punishment. We have to advise you on what customs requires,” he said.
