Anthony Charles Edwards is an American actor and director who is known for his role as Dr. Mark Greene in the first eight seasons of ER.

Anthony Edwards was born on July 19, 1962, in Santa Barbara, California, to Erika Kem Edwards Plack and Peter Edwards. His mother is an artist/landscape painter and his father is an architect to whom he was one of five children.
Edwards is one of five children and has four siblings; Ann-Marie Edwards, Jeffrey Edwards, Heidi Edwards, and Peter Edwards.
His grandfather on his mother’s side, was Kem Weber, a furniture and industrial designer, and architect who created several iconic designs of the ‘Streamline’ style.
Growing up, he attended San Marcos High School where he graduated from in 1980. He received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in England but studied theatre at the University of Southern California.
However, since he was gaining a lot of work as an actor, he was able to leave college at the age of nineteen.
