Anne Wiazemsky was born to Yvan Wiazemsky and Claire Mauriac.
Her father was a French diplomat, who was a Russian prince who had emigrated to France and her mother was the daughter of François Mauriac, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
She made her on-screen acting debut at the age of 18, playing Marie, the lead character in Robert Bresson’s Au Hasard Balthazar. She has also written several novels, including Canines, Une Poignée de Gens, and Aux Quatre Coins du Monde.
She married Jean-Luc Godard in 1967. The marriage officially ended in divorce in 1979, even though they had separated in 1970.
On October 5, 2017, at the age of 70, she died of breast cancer.
