From June 25, 1934, until January 8, 2023, Jack Williams Hayford, an American novelist, Pentecostal minister, and former chancellor of The King’s University (formerly The King’s College and Seminary), lived.

Formerly the senior pastor of The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California, one of the few flagship congregations in the Foursquare denomination, he served as the fourth President of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.

He was well recognized for his involvement in the Promise Keepers organization as well as for being a prolific composer and songwriter, amassing a collection of around 600 hymns and choruses.

He wrote the well-known hymn “Majesty,” which was released in 1978 and is played and sung in churches all over the world.

On July 4, 1954, Hayford married Anna Marie Smith, his college sweetheart. The couple has four children: Christa, Mark, Rebecca, and Jack III. Additionally, they had 17 great-grandchildren and 11 grandkids. Early in 2016, stage 4 pancreatic cancer was discovered in Anna; she passed away in 2017.
