The four Pointer Sisters started performing together more than 50 years ago in the Oakland, California, church where their father served as a pastor.

In 1969, Bonnie Pointer and June Pointer, the youngest of the Pointer sisters, made their professional singing debut. Before putting out their first record as a group in 1973, they later invited older sisters Anita and Ruth to join them.

For their crossover success, “Fairytale,” the trio received their first Grammy Award in 1974. They are also well-known for the hits “Jump,” “Neutron Dance,” and “Slow Hand.”

Between 1973 and 1985, the trio had 13 US Top 20 hits and earned a total of three Grammy Awards.
