Anita Baker siblings: Meet Lois Landry

Lois Landry is the sister of Anita Baker. Baker’s foster sister raised her after her foster parents passed away when she was 12 years old. When Baker was 16 years old, she started performing R&B in Detroit nightclubs. David Washington, the band’s leader, spotted her after one performance and gave her an application to try out for the Chapter 8 funk band.

Prior to signing a deal with Ariola Records in 1979, Baker was a member of Chapter 8 when it began touring in 1975. The singles “Ready for Your Love,” a collaboration between Baker and bandmate Gerald Lyles, and “I Just Want to Be Your Girl,” which Baker sang alone, were included on the group’s debut album, Chapter 8, which was released that same year.
