Animal Control, a single-camera workplace comedy from The Moodys co-creators Bob Fisher and Rob Greenberg, Dan Sterling (Long Shot), and Fox Entertainment Studios, has been ordered direct to series by Fox.

Animal Control, which is set to premiere in the midseason, is Fox Entertainment Studios’ first completely owned live-action comedy.

Animal Control is a workplace comedy written by Fisher, Greenberg, and Sterling that follows a group of Animal Control personnel whose lives are complicated by the reality that animals are simple, but humans are not.

Fisher and Greenberg co-created and executive produced The Moodys, which ran on Fox for two seasons. The Valet, Lionsgate’s English-language remake of Francis Veber’s successful French film, was written by the team most recently. Fisher also co-wrote the screenplay for Wedding Crashers and co-created the comedy Sirens with The Moodys’ Denis Leary.

Animal Control, which had been in the works for a while, was created as part of Fox’s script-to-series process. Three screenplays have been prepared, and casting will begin right away.

Fox revealed Cindy Snow, a straight-to-series dark comedy from Warner Bros. Television, as a new midseason replacement at its May upfront. As Deadline revealed last week, the agreement for that series was never finalized due to a variety of obstacles.
