Angela Margaret Leslie Thorne was a well-known English actress, born on January 25, 1939, in Karachi, Sind, British India – now Pakistan. She was the daughter of an Indian Army doctor father, William Herbert Alfred Thorne, and her mother Sylvia was a teacher.

Angela Throne began her career with the Caryl Jenner Children’s Theatre before appearing in Night Must Fall at Theatre Royal in Windsor. She then joined the Ralph Richardson Theatre Company at the Haymarket Theatre before making her television debut in 1962.

Angela was best known for her roles as the voice of The Queen in Roald Dahl’s The BFG, Daphne in Three Up, Two Down and Margaret Thatcher in Anyone for Denis? She also played Marjory Frobisher in To The Manor Born for three years, making her an icon in British television.

Angela who died on June 16, 2023, was married to a colleague actor Peter Penry-Jones for 48 years before he died in 2009.

As of now, the grieving family has not provided the public with information on her burial. However, her son Rupert announced her death in a statement that partly reads; …“The actress Angela Thorne died peacefully at her home on the 16th of June. She was 84 years old. She was the beloved wife of Peter Penry Jones, and is survived by her two sons Rupert and Laurie Penry Jones, and her grandchildren, Florence, Peter, Giorgio, and Delilah…”
