Despite being a Dorchester, Massachusetts native, Anastasia Mousis-Sanidopoulos spent her formative years in Belmont and Watertown.
She first performed after taking dancing classes at the O’Brien Dance Studio, whose owner, Joan O’ Brien, inspired Anastasia to follow her goals.
Although her teacher has since died away, she instilled the drive that keeps Anastasia active to this day. Among other renowned teachers, Anastasia had training with Ian McKenzie and Sheryl Murakami.
More than 100 feature films have featured Anastasia’s work. She starred in “The Equalizer” as a supporting player opposite Denzel Washington in 2014, which gave her her big break. She is walking through each door that has opened up as a result of this opportunity.
Anastasia divorced her husband and put her dancing career on hold to raise her twin boys, who are now 12 years old, after their marriage had a bad split.
After dance class one evening in March 2010, Anastasia was struck head-on by a drunk driver whose car then overturned in midair.
As they grew older, her passion drew her back to the stage, but fate intervened that day. Anastasia was no longer physically capable of dancing, as she had done since she was a little girl.
After much distress, counseling, and healing, she was surrounded by love and support from family and friends, which assisted her in recovering and refocusing her energies on performing.
