An unfulfilled promise doesn’t make Bawumia a liar – Tia Mahama

Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, the Vice President’s Technical Advisor, asserts that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not a liar. According to Dr. Mahama, a lie is a purposeful distortion of the truth that is done with full knowledge that it will not be fulfilled.

Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on February 8, he stated that, with the exception of a small number, the vice president’s promises made in the run-up to the 2016 election were mostly kept.

“Bawumia has made many promises, the majority of which have come true. Individuals only go to select one or two that are unfulfilled,” he remarked. Expanding on this, he asked people to name a falsehood the Vice President had told Ghanaians.

Tell me one falsehood that Dr. Bawumia has failed to deliver. He said, “Normally, I challenge people to name one lie that Dr. Bawumia has ever told the people of Ghana.

The Technical Advisor to the Vice President advised Ghanaians not to jump to judgments and call the “honest leader a liar,” but instead to inquire as to why specific promises have not materialized.

“A promise not fulfilled does not make it a lie,” he emphasized. That is the issue with this story of lies that we have. On February 8, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party spoke to Ghanaians about his vision for the country and requested the right to run for office in the December 2024 elections.

Dr. Bawumia made a number of promises, including the elimination of the Electronic Transactions Levy and the option to opt out of National Service.
