The legal counsel of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Aminata Diallo has issued a statement following her release from police custody.

Aminata Diallo gained her freedom Thursday night after spending 24 hours behind bars in France over allegations that she had a hand in teammate Keira Amraoui’s attack.

Here are five key takeaways from her first press statement since her release.

Shocked about allegations

She expressed shock over her suspicion in the case. “Aminata Diallo was amazed to learn that she is suspected of being linked to the assault of which she and her teammate Kheira Amraoui were victims on November 4,” the statement said.

She disputes the allegations

Aminata says she has no hand in the incident and would prove that by fully cooperating with investigators to work.

“Placed in custody for a total of 48 hours, she answered, without a lawyer, all the questions asked by the police officers. She fully cooperated in facilitating the work of the investigators and came out free.”

No charge pressed against Aminata Diallo

As earlier reported, she was released Thursday without any charge. She is innocent until proven guilty.

“Other much more serious leads are currently being considered by investigators that do not involve my client in any way.”

She wasn’t happy about her arrest

“However, it is regrettable that Ms. Diallo was arrested in this way when she could have responded to a summons for a free hearing and not be subjected to a constraint measure,” she said.

Aminata Diallo vs Keira Amraoui rival ‘artificial’

She said no rivalry exists between her and Keira, and an artificial rivalry has been staged between them.

“In addition, Mrs. Aminata Diallo deplores the perfectly artificial staging of a rivalry between her and Mrs. Keira Amraoui, which would justify her attacking her teammate. This theory does not correspond to the true nature of their relationship.”

Condemns media interest

“Finally, Mrs. Aminata regrets the media enthusiasm which has already condemned her, without foundation, and she recalls that she will not hesitate to defend her rights in court if necessary against any defamation. All the comments about his alleged responsibility in this unfortunate affair have deeply hurt him and those close to him. She wishes to recall the exemplary nature she has always shown, on and off the field,” it said.

Aminata wants justice

She wants to prove her innocence in the case. Aminata said she “wants justice to pursue its investigation quickly and ensure that it will result in the demonstration of her full innocence.”
