A Texas man was given a meagre ten years in prison for killing his wife, whom he shot dead on video when he found out she was having a romantic affair with a man.
Earlier this week, Carey Birmingham received his punishment. Despite the overwhelming evidence, Birmingham will serve 10 years in jail, with a maximum of twenty years, for the killing that was captured on camera.
Birmingham is seen driving in their Spring, Texas, driveway while wielding a shotgun and wearing a bathrobe in the unsettling footage.
“All right, good-bye,” Birmingham can be heard saying to his spouse. Before giving her three shots, he said, “You’re [going to] meet Jesus, I hope it was worth it.”
The couple argued for thirty minutes before to the shooting, which took place while their daughter Olivia was at school.
A significant portion of Birmingham’s crime of passion defense was derived from audio that ABC13 was able to secure, which includes several minutes of communication between the two.
He is heard declaring, “I am done,” to which Patricia responds, “I am done too,” as their argument grows increasingly acrimonious.
Anthony Osso, Birmingham’s defense lawyer, stated that their plea of guilty was intended to persuade the all-female jury that he had shot Patricia in the heat of the moment.
‘We never sought to defend the behavior of our client, but the defense wasn’t about justification,’ Osso told us.
Birmingham will be eligible for parole after five years of serving 10 years in jail for the death.

Olivia, the daughter, told the publication, “I lost both of my parents that day,” in response to her father’s sentence.
Birmingham’s brief sentence incited indignation, and the murderer’s own daughter Olivia denounced him in court.
“That day, my dad also passed away because the individual who had harmed my mother and father are not the same person.” she added
