The wife of well-known musician Keche Andrew, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, seems to be losing interest in running for parliament.
This is in response to criticism from party members in the constituency who say she is unfit to serve as their MP.
Gyedu Frimpong, a former member of the NDC Elections Committee in Amenfi Central, insisted that the businesswoman’s lack of familiarity with the party in the constituency disqualifies her from running for office.
Despite being a resident of Amenfi Central, Madam Cudjoe does not cast a ballot in the constituency, according to the chairman.
“Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s documents prove that she is a native of Amenfi Central but she does not vote here. She is not an NDC member here. The woman owns two party cards, which is against the party’s rules. We have warned the party to be very careful about the things they are doing because we don’t know her” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday.
Mrs. Joana Cudjoe is a “dishonest person,” according to Mr. Frimpong, and she shouldn’t be leading them in the constituency.
He then urged the party’s national executives to conduct in-depth inquiries to discover the facts.
On the same program, Joana Cudjoe’s former Amenfi Central MP, George Arthur, pleaded with her fans not to believe the rumors.
He denied all of the accusations made against her, saying that they were all part of a larger plot to harm the reputation of the candidate for parliament.
“Those who are alleging are behind the sitting MP and are doing so because they hate her. They are only making baseless allegations against her. Even issues of her forged ID cards are untrue. They purposely want to denigrate and destroy the lady,” Mr. Arthur stressed.
