Peter Kwakye-Ackah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region’s Amenfi Central seat, has conveyed a crucial message to the party’s leadership.
Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah desires that the party look into the accusations of fraud made against Dr. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, a businesswoman and Keche’s wife, who is running for parliament.
This is in response to criticism from party members in the constituency who say she is unfit to serve as their MP. The national committee has been tasked with reviewing a petition alleging that she committed forgery.
“NDC leadership should investigate the allegations leveled against her because it’s very important for us. I know many things, but I won’t talk about it. People have raised issues about her credibility. It will be for the party and even the media to take it up and investigate so that we can all know the truth” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Wednesday.
He believes that the NDC will perish if the party chooses not to look into the issue.
“Our opponents, NPP, are ready to pounce on these things and use them against us during the December elections. There are a lot of allegations against her. The party should rather go to the CID headquarters and investigate the matter. Else, it will bring trouble, in that if these things are hanging on you, then it’s a problem for the party.”
In the Saturday, May 13, 2023, NDC parliamentary primary, the two-time MP for Wassa Amenfi Central lost.
He was defeated by entrepreneur Dr. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, who also happens to be the wife of musician Keche Andrew of the band Keche.
With 756 votes, Joana Gyan Cudjoe defeated Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah, the sitting MP, who came in second with 575 votes.
