Allison Lee Hannigan, best known as Alyson Hannigan, is a television host and actress from Washington, D.C. She was born on March 24, 1974. She moved to Hollywood at the age of 11 after beginning her career with commercial appearances at the age of four.

She auditioned for agencies while visiting her father in Santa Barbara, while living with her mother and attending North Hollywood High School. Allison Hannigan attended California State University, Northridge following high school, where she graduated with a degree in psychology while participating in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

Hannigan’s film career began with supporting roles in the comedies Impure Thoughts (1986) and My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988), for which she was nominated for a Young Artist Award.

Seth Green appeared with Hannigan in the science-fiction comedy My Stepmother Is an Alien, which was released in 1988. Green later joined her as her on-screen boyfriend in the Buffy main cast. She was picked for the short-lived ABC sitcom Free Spirit in 1989, marking her first appearance in a regular TV series. When she was a teenager, Hannigan babysat the children of her future How I Met Your Mother co-star, Bob Saget.

Hannigan portrayed Kim’s mother, Ann Possible, in the Disney Channel original film Kim Possible, based on the animated series. Hannigan was announced as a contender on season 32 of Dancing with the Stars in September 2023, along with Sasha Farber.
