The Ekumfi Traditional Council has distanced itself from the debate surrounding the late President John Evans Atta-Mills’ autopsy report.
Council claims they don’t want to become involved in the matter, which has gained attention when President Akufo-Addo was asked to make the autopsy report available to the public.
The chiefs stated that instead of the continuous teasing and demonstration of discord within the late statesman’s family, they would have wanted to debate the matter outside of the media’s scrutiny.
However, it seems that some stories and accusations do denigrate us and frequently make accusations against us that have a direct and detrimental impact on the Nananom and Ekumfi people.
Because of this, we, the Nananom of Ekumfi, think that rather than engaging in constant media teasing, if the extended family or any individual inside the family has concerns about the report, they should have a verbal altercation with the immediate family to resolve the issue amicably.
“Nananom would like to express that the violent back and forth bickering is not only abhorrent but also shameful and repulsive; it portrays the family as a broken one,” Nananom declared.
The chiefs stated that they have neither elected nor assigned any individual or group of individuals to submit the aforementioned request to the President in a press release responding to the situation.
Thus, they emphasized, “We want to state clearly that any attempt to associate the Chiefs of Ekumfi with any such action is malicious, false, and mischievous, and it must be treated with the contempt it deserves.”
“The late Professor Atta Mills must be allowed to rest in peace!”
Nananom issued a warning to anyone using Odeefo Akyin VIII, the Paramount Chief, office for continuing banter: stop or face your consequences.
