An independent candidate, Alan Kyerematen, has clarified that the political alliance between his Movement For Change and eight other parties is not a merger.

In an interview with JoyNews, Kyerematen emphasized that although the parties are supporting him and will campaign for him in the upcoming 2024 general elections, they will maintain their individual party identities.

Kyerematen explained, “The alliance is not a merger of the political entities, it is an alliance…each of the members of the alliance will keep their own symbols but we will all campaign as a group for the general elections in December.” He further stated that the alliance will collectively decide on his running mate based on agreed-upon criteria.

The purpose of this alliance, according to Kyerematen, is to challenge the existing duopoly in Ghanaian politics and introduce transformational policies in various sectors such as the economy, health, education, and energy. He stressed that the alliance shares a common goal of implementing a great transformational plan as their blueprint.

The Alliance for Revolutionary Change, as it is called, consists of nine political groups led by Kyerematen, including the National Interest Movement, Ghana First Coalition, Union Government, Ghana National Party, Ghana Green Party, Third Force Movement, Non-Aligned Voters Movement, Crusaders Against Corruption Ghana, and more. Their aim is to mobilize individuals from diverse backgrounds to support an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.

The alliance’s formation signifies a collective effort towards achieving common objectives, with each party retaining its identity while working together for the betterment of Ghana. This collaboration is viewed as a step towards breaking the dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the country’s political landscape.

As the 2024 elections approach, the Alliance for Revolutionary Change is poised to make a significant impact by uniting Ghanaians across different demographics and affiliations in support of their shared vision for a transformed and inclusive political future.
