Ali Ahmed Aslam was a Pakistani-born Scottish chef, who is credited with inventing the famous dish chicken tikka masala.
He was born in 1944 or 1945 and passed away on December 19, 2022, at the age of 77.
Aslam was born in what is now Punjab province, Pakistan. In either 1958 or 1959, he moved with his family to Glasgow as a young boy. His father, Noor Mohammed, opened what is considered the first true Indian restaurant in Glasgow, the Green Gates on Bank Street, in 1959.
