Alexander Djiku has been making waves in the Sofascore UEFA Europa Conference League, despite his team Fenerbahce being knocked out by Olympiacos.

The Ghanaian defender was named in the Team of the Week for his outstanding performance, even though his side didn’t make it to the last four of the competition.

Fenerbahce won the second leg of the quarterfinal tie against Olympiacos 1-0, but it wasn’t enough to secure their spot in the next round as the aggregate score ended in a 3-3 draw. The Greek side managed to hold their nerves during the penalty shootout, ultimately defeating Fenerbahce 3-2 on penalties in Istanbul.

Alexander Djiku was a standout player in the match, winning the most duels with an impressive 13 in 120 minutes of football. Despite the loss, his performance did not go unnoticed as he showcased his defensive prowess on the field.

The only goal of the game was scored by Irfan Kahveci, with an assist from Sebastian Szymanski just 11 minutes into the match. The 1-0 scoreline forced the game into extra time, with the tie level at 3-3 on aggregate before Olympicos emerged victorious in the penalty shootout.
