American journalist Alexandra Swe Wagner was born on November 27, 1977.
In addition to hosting Alex Wagner Tonight on MSNBC and the Netflix version of The Mole, she is the author of FutureFace: A Family Mystery, an Epic Quest, and the Secret to Belonging (One World/Random House).
For The Atlantic and CBS News, she has served as a contributing editor. From 2011 until 2015, she served as the co-host of The Circus on Showtime and the host of the daily program Now with Alex Wagner on MSNBC.
From November 2016 to March 2018, she co-anchored CBS This Morning Saturday. She has also worked as The Atlantic’s senior editor since April 2016.
On August 16, 2022, she started anchoring Alex Wagner Tonight after filling in for The Rachel Maddow Show and All In with Chris Hayes on MSNBC.
Wagner has worked as the cultural correspondent for the Center for American Progress. She covered global music and cultural movements as editor-in-chief of The Fader magazine from 2003 to 2007.
She also served as executive director for the advocacy organization Not On Our Watch Project, which concentrates on mass killings and violations of human rights.
