Mallari was born in the Philippines on February 19, 1988, but raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Mallari competed at the national level in Taekwondo, where he holds a third-degree black belt. He won the Junior Canadian National Taekwondo Championship twice.
However, he gave it up when he was 13 years old. He then took up basketball with the idea of becoming a professional, but an injury prevented him from doing so.
Mallari made the decision to pursue acting while he was enrolled at the University of Toronto. As Four in the Syfy television series Dark Matter, which was based on the comic book series of the same name, he made his acting debut. He appeared in the show for three seasons, from 2015 to 2017.
He has since starred in various films and television programs, including the Netflix feature film The Adam Project, and the Netflix series Ginny & Georgia (2021–present).
