Alex Law Kai-yum, the screenwriter and director of Echoes of the Rainbow, has passed on unexpectedly. It is said that the Hong Kong filmmaker died at the age of 69 on Saturday (July 2) in a hospital.

However, as of now, no cause of death has been detailed by the deceased family. Alex’s autopsy would be ready in no time to help solve the mystery surrounding his death.
According to the South China Morning Post, the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild issued a statement confirming Law’s death. He previously served as the organization’s vice-chairman.
Law frequently collaborated with longtime collaborator Mabel Cheung Yuen-ting, whom he met while attending New York University.
They collaborated on the (Migration Trilogy,) which included the films Illegal Immigrant (1985), An Autumn’s Tale (1987), and Eight Tales Of Gold (1989), which he wrote and she directed.
