After limping off during Liverpool’s preseason match against Crystal Palace in the first half, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has now sustained yet another physical setback.
The 28-year-old former Arsenal midfielder has struggled to stay in shape ever since rupturing his cruciate ligament in 2018.
Oxlade-Chamberlain scored three goals in 29 games across all competitions while playing in less than HALF of Liverpool’s games last season. He was linked with a transfer away from Anfield.
West Ham and Manchester United, two bitter rivals, have been mentioned in connection with a transfer lately.
However, the most recent injury might make it impossible for the former England international to leave Anfield this year.
Late in the first half of Singapore’s match versus Palace, Oxlade-Chamberlain was injured and hobbled straight down the tunnel for medical attention.
Leighton Clarkson took his place, and the Reds were up 1-0 after Jordan Henderson’s first-half goal.
However, Oxlade-injury Chamberlain’s may prompt Jurgen Klopp to reconsider his summer acquisitions.
The Kop manager was sure that he didn’t need to bring in another midfielder this summer, having so far only added strikers Calvin Ramsay and Darwin Nunez to his roster along with right-back Fabio Carvalho.
