Multiple award-winning American actor Alec Baldwin is in trouble after fatally shooting the director of photography and injuring the film director while shooting a new movie near Sante Fe.
The “Knots Landing” series actor, 63, reportedly discharged a prop firearm while shooting a new movie called “Rust”, k!lling the film’s director of photography and injuring the director.
The director of photography Halyna Hutchins, 42, was airlifted Thursday afternoon, to the University of New Mexico hospital, where she was pronounced dead, NPR reports.
And Director Joel Souza, 48, was being cared for at Christus St. Vincent Medical Centre as of Thursday evening.
According to NPR, deputies responded about 2 p.m. to the “Rust” movie set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch after 911 calls came in of a person being shot on set, Juan Rios, a spokesman for the sheriff said.
Sheriff’s spokesman Rios told the Albuquerque Journal that: “According to investigators, it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged. Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged.”
So far, no charges have been pressed against Alec Baldwin and the investigation is ongoing, with detectives interviewing witnesses.
Production has so far been halted on the Western movie, which is being directed by Souza with Alec Baldwin producing and starring.
