As the 2024 elections get near, independent presidential candidate Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has attacked the two major political parties, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Mr. Kyerematen, the NDC and NPP don’t have any real answers for the economic problems that Ghanaians face.
He specifically chastised them for relying on bailouts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) throughout their individual administrations.
Mr. Kyerematen positioned himself as the best qualified candidate to lead the necessary transformation that Ghanaians yearned for, given his status as the Movement for Change’s founder and leader.
He begged people to make him their first pick in the next elections, which are scheduled for 2024.
Kyerematen expressed discontent with the current duopoly and questioned whether Ghanaians actually wanted change.
In the Volta and Central Regions, Mr. Kyerematen expects to receive a higher number of votes than his principal opponents, NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In these areas, which have always been seen as his opponents’ strongholds, he asserts his appeal.
Especially in the Volta and Central Regions as well as the Ashanti Region, Kyerematen emphasizes his broad base of support and confidence in his appeal with a network of 600,000 volunteers working on a grassroots campaign across the country.
“In the Volta and Central Regions, I may have greater gravitas than any of the candidates running [Mahama, Bawumia].” Within NPP, there was a general consensus that Alan owned the area if it was in the Volta region. In the Ashanti region, I have a lot of support,” he continued.
