American author, television host, and journalist Albert Lincoln Roker Jr. was born on August 20, 1954. The son of Jamaican-born Isabel Roker and bus driver Albert Lincoln Roker Sr., Roker was born in the Queens area of New York City. His initial career goal was to become a cartoonist. He attended Manhattan’s Xavier High School and was raised as a Catholic. His mom was a devout Catholic. In 1976, he graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a BA in communications.
