Al Green, whose real name is Albert Leornes Greene, is a popular American singer, songwriter, pastor, and record producer. Green gained popularity in the early 1970s for a string of soul hit singles, including “Take Me to the River,” “Tired of Being Alone,” “I’m Still in Love with You,” “Love and Happiness,” and his signature song, “Let’s Stay Together.” 1995 saw Green’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Green was described to as “one of the most gifted purveyors of soul music” on the museum’s website. Another name for him is “The Last of the Great Soul Singers.”
