Sampson Ahi, the Bodi member of parliament, is accusing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of violating the constitutional clause requiring him to maintain regional parity in the selection of his cabinet ministers.
The MP bemoans the fact that the Western North Region is not now represented in the cabinet due to the removal of Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
In an interview with the media on Wednesday, February 14, Sampson Ahi stated that the Western North Region’s citizens and traditional leaders are incensed at the development.
We are unhappy because the president is required under the constitution to take regional balance into account when appointing his cabinet. We assumed that after Dr. Kwaku Afriyie of the Western North was fired, he would have named a new Western North resident to take his position, but that did not occur.
“There isn’t a single deputy minister from the Western North when you look through the list.”
