“Akufo-Addo’s belated ministerial reshuffle won’t make any impact” – Kofi Buah says

Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, is doubtful about President Akufo-Addo’s recent ministry change, believing it to be tardy and unlikely to produce meaningful outcomes.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, was stripped of his duties by President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, February 14, in a significant government reshuffle.

Thirteen current ministers of state—ten cabinet ministers and two regional ministers—have also been affected by the reshuffle.

Kofi Buah expressed doubts about the new ministers’ ability to be effective in his analysis of the reshuffle, speculating that they might not have enough time to adjust and make significant changes.

“This is very important because as you know the people of Ghana have called on the president in the last seven years when it became obvious that some of his ministers were not performing. It went to the extent that even the majority members of parliament insisted and called on the president to make these changes before the boat capsized. It is obvious that the president refused until the boat capsized.”

“Honourable Speaker it is clear that this has come a little too late. And to say that for 10 months yes these new ministers may not have the opportunity to settle down and make any impact. So honourable speaker what I have to say is that these changes are simply dead on arrival,” he stated.
