President Akufo-Addo has re-affirmed his dedication to ensuring justice is served in the trial of individuals accused of the murder of Eric Johnson, the owner of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel in Jirapa, Upper West Region.
The late Johnson was found dead in his home with severe wounds, allegedly attacked by intruders who used a ladder and a master card to gain entry.
The final funeral rites, held at Nayiri Park in Jirapa on June 1, saw the gathering of dignitaries including the Speaker of Parliament, Minister of State at the Office of the President, Clergy, Chiefs, family members, and well-wishers. In a speech delivered by the Minister of State at the Office of the President, Ambrose Dery on behalf of President Akufo-Addo, it was emphasized that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will face the full force of the law.
The Wa District Court, on February 28, ordered the remand of seven suspects linked to the murder of Eric Johnson. Among these suspects are hotel employees Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Belinda Miller, and Michael Klugey.
Additionally, Favour Nuobe and Kweku Kombata, also employees of Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, were apprehended in connection to the case.
The prime suspect, Elyasah Mahama, a former HR officer at the hotel, was arrested in Takoradi and transported to Wa for questioning. Notably, Mahama had been dismissed by Johnson just three days before the tragic incident.
The court directed the suspects to be held in custody, with Mahama detained at the Wa Central Prison while the others are kept at the Wa Police premises.
The investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are determined to ensure that justice prevails in this case of violence and murder.
